What is the eligibility for RPSC RAS?
Candidates must be graduates from a recognised university. Age limit: 21–40 years for general category (relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD as per Rajasthan government rules). Indian citizenship is required. Knowledge of Hindi in Devanagari script and Rajasthani culture is also required.
What is the RPSC RAS Prelims exam pattern?
RPSC RAS Prelims is a single paper of 200 multiple-choice questions, 200 marks, 3 hours duration. Topics: Rajasthan GK (history, geography, culture, economy), Indian GK (history, geography, polity, science), Current Affairs, and General Mental Ability. There is negative marking (1/3 per wrong answer). Prelims is qualifying — marks are not counted in the final merit.
How many papers are there in RPSC RAS Mains?
RAS Mains has 4 General Studies papers (GS I–IV) and 1 General Hindi & General English paper. Additionally, there is an essay paper. Each GS paper is 200 marks, 3 hours. The Hindi/English paper is 200 marks. Mains marks + interview marks form the final merit list.
What are the main subjects in RPSC RAS GS papers?
GS I: History of Rajasthan & India, Art, Culture, Heritage. GS II: Indian Constitution, Polity, Governance, Indian Economy. GS III: Technology, Economic Developments, Agriculture, Geography. Is the RPSC RAS interview compulsory?
Yes. After Mains, shortlisted candidates appear for a Personality Test (interview) of 100 marks conducted by RPSC. The final merit list is based on Mains marks + interview marks. Prelims marks are not included in the final merit.
How does RPSC RAS differ from RSMSSB LDC in terms of preparation?
RAS requires much deeper preparation — especially Indian and Rajasthan History, Constitution (Mains GS II), and Essay writing. The GK overlap is significant: Rajasthan History, Geography, Culture, and Current Affairs appear in both exams. Starting LDC GK preparation covers roughly 40-50% of RAS Prelims content, making it a natural stepping stone.
